Start with one article and a repeatable workflow.
You do not have to use every feature at once. Begin with your business information and one useful topic.
What you need before you start
| What | Used for | How it connects |
|---|---|---|
| A WordPress site | Publishing and scheduling articles | Connected with a standard WordPress application password. We never ask for your login password, and you can revoke the application password in WordPress at any time. |
| A Google account | Reviewing search and analytics data after publishing | Search Console and Google Analytics are connected with read-only access. Your data is never changed. |
| A note account (optional) | Publishing to note | Connected through an extension for desktop Google Chrome. Your note password and cookies are not read. |
| An Ahrefs subscription (optional) | Additional keyword and competitor research | Connected with your own subscription and API key. Ahrefs fees are charged separately. |
The app works in the latest versions of Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, Safari, and Firefox.
1. Decide who you want to help
Gather product information and genuine questions. Set out the site’s purpose and relevant measures of progress.
2. Prepare your materials
Register service information, product pages, examples, and photos as URLs, files, or text. You can also register your brand voice, expressions to avoid, and the pages articles should point to.
3. Choose the topic, outline, and create the article
Research the keyword and check that it does not overlap with existing pages. When a new article is appropriate, work through five stages:
- Keyword setup: choose the main search term.
- SEO analysis: review search results and what readers want to know.
- Writing settings: select materials, voice, and destination pages.
- Headline setup: review and adjust the outline.
- Article creation: create the body and finish it in the editor. Featured and section images can also be generated.
4. Review and publish
Verify the wording, figures, sources, and visuals. Fact checks and plagiarism checks can be run manually when needed. Then publish now or schedule the article to your connected WordPress site.
For scheduled publishing, an article is held and not sent to WordPress if the pre-publication check finds a serious issue.
5. Use data to choose the next step
As data becomes available, review each article’s overview, search terms and trends, improvement points, links, intent and overlap, sources and backlinks, and history.
Each article shows a suggested next step, such as reviewing the title and description, adding a section, considering links, or waiting for data. When rewriting, choose the sections to improve and review the draft before publishing.
